A canção combina o imediatismo pop da melodia e produção, sempre um ponto forte no trabalho delas, com uma letra mais densa, que tenta entender o nem sempre fácil mundo dos relacionamentos amorosos.
O single é o primeiro aperitivo do novo álbum do trio, ainda sem data de lançamento confirmada. O HAIM não lança um novo trabalho de estúdio desde o elogiado "Women in Music Pt. III", de 2020.
"Relationships" ganhou um clipe que tem a participação de Drew Starkey, visto recentemente em "Queer", de Luca Guadagnino.
